If you need any further guidance in choosing which tour is best for you, then you can ask yourself the following questions:

  • Where do your interests lie? Are you looking for a thrilling adventure or a cultural experience? Different tours cater to various needs.
  • How big is your travel group? If you’re traveling as a family with young children, then you may want to book a private tour that is more flexible. If you’re a solo traveler looking to make friends, then a group tour is perfect for you.
  • What is your budget? Various tours offer different perks and values. Often, you can find a similar tour designed to suit different budgets based on what they offer.
  • How much time do you have? Some tours manage to cram a packed itinerary into a few days. If you have the energy, then a whirlwind tour may be right up your alley. Alternatively, there are other tours that expand their itinerary over more days, giving you more time to soak up the essence of each location.

Best Time to Visit Prague, Vienna, and Budapest

Central and Eastern European countries are fantastic to visit all year round. There’s very little that the seasons can do to negatively affect the magnificence of the buildings, the delicious local cuisine and the charm of the various cities.

However, if you want to make the most of your trip, there are certain times that are arguably better than others.

The best time to visit Prague and Budapest is during the shoulder seasons, on either side of summer and winter. The weather is temperate, the crowds are less and the mood is cheerful around April and May, and again in September and October.

Similarly, Vienna is fantastic to visit throughout the year, especially in the shoulder seasons. However, we found visiting Vienna in March to be fantastic as the weather is comfortable, the streets aren’t crowded and spring is in the air.

Travel visa/tips for Budapest Vienna Prague Tours

Schengen Visa

All the 3 cities – Budapest, Vienna and Prague are located in Europe and are part of the Schengen agreement. If you require a visa to travel to the 28 Schengen countries, then you will need to apply for a Schengen travel visa before arrival. Learn more about the Schengen Visa process.

Note: Berlin (Germany) is also part of the Schengen agreement, so the same visa will apply.

The Extended Eastern European Tour ends in Split, Croatia. Croatia is a part of the European Union, but not a member of the Schengen agreement. However, as long as you have a multiple entry Schengen visa, you should be good. Please confirm the visa requirements for Croatia before booking.

EU & US/Canadian Passport Holders

If you have a European Union passport, you won’t require a visa for travel to/within Europe.

All the visa-exempt countries like the USA and Canada can travel to Schengen zone and the rest of Europe and stay for 90 days without a visa, right now.

From 2021, all the Schengen nations require visa-exempt countries to apply for an ETIAS – European Travel Information and Authorization System, which although not a visa, requires the US and Canadian passport holders to apply for an ETIAS (electronic travel authorization) to travel to France and other Schengen countries. Unlike the Schengen visa, the ETIAS is pretty forward and very easy to get. Apply online and get the authorization in 24-48 hours.

Whether visa or ETIAS, ensure that your passport is valid for 3 months after the intended date of departure from the Schengen zone. Learn about ETIAS here (2021).
