Zurich is home to many world-renowned chocolatiers, so it’s the perfect place to go on a chocolate tasting tour. With so many different flavors to try, you’re sure to find your new favorite.

If you’re looking for something truly unique, be sure to visit Sprüngli, a Zurich institution that’s been making chocolate since 1836. This shop is famous for its Swiss chocolates, which are made with only the finest ingredients.

You can also visit the interactive Lindt Home of Chocolate Museum, which is located adjacent to the historic Lindt & Sprüngli factory. On an audio-guided tour, learn about the long road that cocoa takes from bean to bar.

Hike the Eiger Trail

The Eiger Trail is a UNESCO World Heritage Site listed hiking trail and it is a must-see attraction in Switzerland’s beautiful Grindelwald valley, at the foot of the magnificent Swiss Alps.

The Eiger Trail offers stunning vistas of the lush Grindelwald valley and snow-capped Jungfraujoch peak, known as “the Top of Europe.” The length of the trail is 6 +km (3.7 miles) and takes close to 3 hours to complete.

Located between two train stations, Alpiglen and Eigergletscher, the trek travels along a ridge that is already deep into the mountains. You’ll notice a lot of waterfalls and kind Swiss cattle while hiking.

The highest point on the route is at Kleine Scheidegg, a beautiful train station, and tiny resort village!

Be fascinated by Glacier 3000

The Glacier 3000 is an amazing place to visit in Switzerland, and it’s definitely a bucket list item.

It’s a smaller ski area with only 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) of slopes, but “Glacier 3000” has an outstanding view and the longest slope of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), making it well worth the visit. 

The mountain is part of the Gstaad Ski Area, which offers more than 200 kilometers (124 miles) of slopes!

You can experience the Glacier 3000 and soak in the snowy landscapes all year round. You can also take a scenic cable car ride to the top of the glacier, where you’ll have breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps.

Explore a Swiss castle

Switzerland is home to a few lovely castles, each with its own unique history and architecture. Many of these castles are open to the public, so you can explore them at your leisure.

Be sure to check out Chillon Castle, which is located on a small island in Lake Geneva, and the imposing Habsburg Castle, which sits on the picturesque Wülpelsberg, a hill near Brugg. 

Ride the Gelmerbahn Funicular

The Gelmerbahn Funicular is a must-do activity when visiting Switzerland. This unique attraction offers visitors a breathtaking ride up the Swiss Alps to Gelmersee Lake. 

The views from the top are simply amazing, and it’s a great place to enjoy a picnic lunch or take a walk around the lake.

The national park was founded on 1 August 1914, on the day of the national holiday of Switzerland. It was one of the earliest national parks in Europe. And today it is part of the worldwide UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

The resort offers epic winter sports opportunities like downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and tobogganing. It’s also home to two winter golf courses, and the world’s only night tobogganing run.

Although there are a ton of toboggan runs in and around St Moritz, you must add Preda / Bergun to your Swiss bucket list. It is the longest at 6.5 km (4 miles) and can be easily reached via train (instead of climbing a hill).

Try fondue in Switzerland
